About me

Hello! I'm April. I became a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) in 2005 to serve others. I view it as a unique privilege to care for the needs of individuals and their families while empowering them to navigate the life changes which come about when difficulties in communication, cognition, and/or swallowing occur. I endeavor to help people to see beyond the challenges of the diagnosis and gain confidence in their abilities. I have worked in a variety of settings including Outpatient (Pediatric and Adult), Acute Rehabilitation (Adult), Home Health (Pediatric), Private Practice (Pediatric), Skilled Nursing, Specialized Autism School, and Telehealth (Pediatric). I am certified in Modified Barium Swallow Studies (Adult), Fiberscopic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (Adult), VitalStim Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (Adult), Deep Pharyngeal Neuromuscular Stimulation (Adult), Videostroboscopic Voice Evaluation (Adult). Overall, I would describe my therapeutic style as holistic, client and/or family-centered, individualized/personalized, and rooted in client empowerment by creating self-advocates.

April is my therapist and she is fantastic. I have dysarthria due to the 3 strokes I have had. She is patient kind but yet still a perfectionist.
