Alyssa Schenk

Hi! I'm Alyssa. I became a speech-language pathologist because of my younger brother, who has autism and received speech therapy throughout his childhood. Watching his SLP help him find his voice—and experiencing firsthand the life-changing impact of effective communication—inspired me to dedicate my career to helping children build confidence, connect with others, and reach their full potential.

My clinical background spans a variety of pediatric settings, supporting children with diverse speech, language, and neurodevelopmental needs, including autism spectrum disorder. My therapy approach is strength-based, neurodiversity-affirming, and play-based. I prioritize individualized, client- and family-centered care, actively partnering with caregivers and interdisciplinary teams to foster functional communication, self-advocacy, and overall quality of life.

I am deeply committed to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care through continuous learning and clinical specialization. I am particularly passionate about augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), speech production, and language development. In addition to extensive post-graduate training in these areas, I have developed and presented specialized professional development on integrating AAC into classroom settings for special education educators.
