About me

Hi! I'm Millie. I became a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) in 2024. I became an SLP because I’m passionate about helping people connect meaningfully—whether it’s a toddler saying his/her first words, a teen finding confidence in his/her voice, or an adult regaining communication after a stroke. Before becoming an SLP, I worked as a librarian for nearly a decade, which deepened my love for language, literacy, and meaningful learning. But I wanted to do more—more to support individuals one-on-one, more to empower families, and more to make a lasting impact. SLP has allowed me to combine my strengths in communication, education, and connection in a way that’s both deeply personal and powerfully transformative. I have worked in settings such as university clinic, hospital (acute care and outpatient), skilled nursing/post-acute rehab, elementary/middle school, pediatric private practice. I have received trainings and certifications in the following: SPEAK OUT! (Parkinson's Speech Treatment Program). Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile (MBSImP - Northern Speech Services), Simultaneously Improve Speech Intelligibility, Enhance Phonological Awareness And Develop Language/Literacy Skills With Orthographic Instruction (Northern Speech Services). I would describe my clinical style as holistic, client-centered, functional, individualized/personalized, family-centric, strengths-based, and rooted in client-empowerment to create self-advocates.

Other interests

Outside of SLP, I can usually be found with a book in one hand and mixing spoon in the other. I love experimenting in the kitchen—especially baking loaves of honey wheat bread that make the whole house smell like comfort. When I’m not cooking or reading, I’m out on a walk, letting my thoughts wander, or at home with a paintbrush, notebook, or creative project in front of me. Whether I’m writing, daydreaming, or dabbling in oil paint, I find joy in creating beautiful things and soaking up quiet, imaginative moments.
