About me

Hi! I'm Heather. I became a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) in 2009. I'm thrilled to be in this field! I love that speech therapy is an art and a science, left-brained and right-brained. It requires well-rounded skills to be able to create warm relationships with patients, evaluate and diagnose, and select meaningful activities and strategies. This field is challenging, vast, and intellectually stimulating. And, of course, witnessing patients beam with pride when they acquire or recover a skill never gets old! I have worked in settings such as homes, schools, and private clinics. I have attended a LOT of courses on infant and toddler feeding issues, including medical causes, behavioral obstacles, oral motor deficits, and sensory challenges. There's always SO much more to learn. I was trained in the Coaching Method to increase parent participation in and relevance of speech therapy in daily routines. It was an honor to be tasked with instructing and supervising peers in the technique. I would describe my clinical style as holistic, client-centered, functional, individualized/personalized, family-centric, routines-based, strengths-based, sensory integrated, and rooted in client empowerment to create self-advocates.
