Get startedHi! I'm Caitlin. I became a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) in 2017. When my father was in a car accident, he needed help rebuilding his speech and language skills. The SLP who worked with him not only supported his recovery, but also touched my entire family. Experiencing that journey inspired me to pursue a career where I could provide the same hope and support to others. Over time, my passion grew toward working with children, helping them build a strong foundation for communication so they can learn, connect, and thrive in every aspect of life. I have worked in settings such as Schools, Early Intervention, Private Practice, SNF. While in graduate school, I engaged in a research grant to investigate the effects of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) on language and literacy development. Through this program, I gained experience analyzing how AAC supports speech, language, and literacy growth across diverse populations. This experience deepened my commitment to supporting individuals’ communication needs. I would describe my clinical style as client-centered, functional, and individualized/personalized.

When I’m not working, I’m passionate about animal rescue and volunteer with my local shelter. I love spending time outdoors walking my dogs, playing with my new baby, and discovering new coffee shops. Baking, traveling, and staying active through fitness are some of my favorite ways to recharge and keep a healthy balance in life.

The duration of speech therapy is different for everyone, and it depends on several factors. This includes the type of speech disorder or communication challenge, the frequency of speech therapy sessions, how often you practice the skills taught in speech therapy at home, your personal or professional goals, any underlying medical conditions, and more.

Speech therapy sessions are focused on each client’s care plan, and the activities done during sessions always relate to those goals. So, if a person is in speech therapy to better pronounce the /s/ sound, they’ll begin by learning how to make the sound by itself and work up to practicing it in conversation. Or if someone wants to improve the quality of their voice, their speech therapist will teach them appropriate breathing and vocal exercises. The therapist will aim to do as many trials of each exercise as possible, in order to make the most of each session.
Your speech therapist will constantly be measuring and assessing your response to these exercises. When needed, they’ll make changes to your treatment plan to help you make progress as quickly as possible. Regardless of your goals, your speech therapist will always provide practice activities to complete at home between sessions.
